Sinchon County (Sinch'ŏn-gun), South Hwanghae Province, North Korea.
Though dating back to the Koryo dynasty, when it was called Sinju, Sinchon recieved its current name in 1413 under the Yi. The county remained until 1909, when it was annexed to neighboring Munhwa County. In 1952, it was again made an independent entity.
In 1950, at the start of the Korean War, Sinchon was allegedly the site of a massacre of suspected communists, mostly civilians, by US forces.
