California Alpine Club (private club) owns and operates the Echo Summit a large mountain lodge in the Sierra Nevada (elevation 7,365 feet) commanding a view of Lake Tahoe and surrounding mountains, on the Pacific Crest Trail. The lodge is a cooperative hostel operated by volunteer members who ‘host’ for pre-scheduled time periods.
