This mall was built as The Mall at the Source, a 1997 mall anchored by Fortunoff (from 1964) and off-price stores. Fortunoff's was designed by Kelly & Gruzen. Bankruptcy by Fortunoff and other big stores in the mall crippled foot traffic. In 2017, the dying mall was purchased by China-based Lesso Group Holdings which will be embarking on a redevelopment effort which will become a mixed-use showcase of home furnishings, designs and décor from American and international retailers along with co-working space and community uses.

In 2022, the building was used as a filming location for "Power: Raising Kanan" S3E9.
