The statue of Ferdinand Magellan seems to be a favorie hangout for the town's stray dogs.The monument also depicts a native whose toe is rubbed for good luck. The Salesian museum hold a lot of local artifacts including Amazon shrunken heads.

  • Magellan discovered the Pacific Ocean from here. This enabled him to sail to the Philippines where he was killed by a native for interfering with a local dispute. He was 42 years old.
