Aragonese Castle of Baia

This castle was built at the end of the fifteenth century by Alfonso of Aragon to defend the Gulf of Pozzuoli from Moorish raids. It was revamped considerably after being damaged in the eruption of Monte Nuovo in 1538. Since 1993 it has housed the Archaeological Museum of the Campi Flegrei (Phlegraean Fields).
