railway, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), train station
SEPTA's Fox Chase train station, the current terminus of the Fox Chase line. Service used to continue north to Newtown using Budd RDC (Rail-Diesel-Car) diesel multiple-unit cars, as the line was only electrified as far as Fox Chase for multiple reasons which are no longer valid. Service between Fox Chase and Newtown was discontinued in 1983 after SEPTA retired the aging RDC's in favor of system-wide electrified service and the fact that diesel trains are prohibited from running through the (then new) Center City Commuter Connection (tunnel) due to ventilation issues.
