Village in Ukraine, situated on the Serafince river, afluent of Dniester river.

The river Serafince (or Serafinetz, in Romanian) became part of the border between the Principality of Moldavia and the Kingdom of Poland under Moldavian Voyvode Stephen III ("the Great" or "the Saint"). During his reign, the region encopassed by the rivers Dniester (N), Serafinetz (NW), Colacin (SW), Pruth (S) and a vertical lign from Dniester (starting West of the Hotin city and fortress) to Pruth was attached to Moldavia from the nearby province of Podolia. During the end of the 15th century about 100,000 Ruthen farmers were settled in this area, as well as along the Czeremosch river (now the administrative border between the regions of Czernovczi and Ivan-Frankovsk).
