Taman Sophia,Jalan Kuala Kedah was developed by the first female real estate developer of Kedah Hajjah Sopiah Mat. Hajjah Sopiah from Bugis linage through Daeng Perani is also a descendant of Kedah Chief Minister Dato' Wan Mohammad Saman. Along with her brother Haji Jaafar Mat, they donated the Aman Mosque across the street. Residence of the Taman include the former Chief Minister Dato' Sri Diraja Syed Razak, Sungai Tiang State Assemblywoman Suraya, netprenuer and Skali co-founder Reza Shafie and State Secretary Dato' Radzi.
