90 North Winchester Boulevard
Santa Clara, CA 95050

The property was originally the site of Osborne Hall, originally known as California Home for the Care and Training of Feeble-minded Children, from 1886 until 1889. It also housed the widows and daughters of Civil War veterans from 1921 until 1963. The original Woman's Relief Corps Home of California was located in Evergreen until 1920 when it burned down. Dr. Antrim E. Osborne generously donated Osborne Hall and the property to the Woman's Relief Corps, who renovated and reopened the new Woman's Relief Corps home on November 10, 1921.

The University of California used this as an agricultural research center from 1928 until 2003. It was handed over to the State in 2003 and promptly put it on the market. Summerhill Homes developed the property into medium-density housing despite community protest to retain it as an agricultural community asset.

  • This land is Public land. It belongs to the people of California and the United States, not private developers. Please support preserving the LAST bit of farmland in the core Bay Area that is publically owned. Do not support housing development on this precious land. • Nothing ever belongs to anyone in California. You think the land is "public" or you "own" it. But that is what eminent domain reverses and cities like San Jose have been known to abuse that power, taking properties for all sorts of things.
