Winooski "Turning Circle" / Rotary

Although not pictured here yet, this is the location of the Winooski Rotary. Watch out for those stoplights. Traffic moves a lot more smoothly now, despite the fact the most of the locals don't know how to deal with it.

This is, after all, the first high-volume traffic rotary in the state. Only the flatlanders from Massachusetts and New Jersy know how to get through it without stopping.

Actually the rotary is about half this size - the Main Street downtown buildings on the western side were not torn down to make room for the new traffic rotary.

I agree that traffic moves through this intersection more smoothly than it did when it was a traditional intersection with lights, but it remains obvious that the majority of drivers have no clue how to get through a rotary. As much as the locals complain about the way "flatlanders" drive (especially those from Massachusetts), Vermonters could learn something from them about this particular traffic control device.
