Private Yacht Club founded 1934 as the Hi and Dry Yacht Club, later Essex Open Yacht Racing Association, which became the Pettipaug Yacht Club in 1950. In 1970 the club purchased the tract of land running back from the old property to the creek. Floats and clubhouse were refurbished in 1985.
