Ijo Temple is a Hindu temple located not far from the Temple of Queen Boko or are about 18 km east of Yogyakarta city. This temple was built in the 9th century when the era of Old Mataram Kingdom, and is situated at an altitude of 410 meters above sea level. Because it is located on a hill called Gumuk Ijo, the scenery around the temple is very beautiful, especially if they look westwards to the region will see rice fields and Adisucipto Airport.
This temple is a complex of 17 buildings located on eleven terraces. At the entrance there are carved kala makara, a giant mouth of kala is incorporated under the dragon (makara), as is apparent on the entrance of the Borobudur Temple. In this temple complex there are three chapels that shows respect for the Hindu community to the Trimurti: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The main temple houses a large lingam and yoni.
