Historic hotel which was under construction when the 1906 earthquake hit. It was completed in 1907. The tower behind the hotel was added in 1961, featuring the city's first glass elevator. It was used for exteriors in the 1980s TV series "Hotel". The hotel was restored in 2001 at a cost of $85 million and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. Hotel is located at the only spot in San Francisco where each of the City's cable car lines meet.
