Fire Station for Engine 31, Ambulance (Rescue) 31 and 32, Truck 31 (all wheel drive for monorail rescue), Woods 31 and Woods 32, District 3 (Battalion Chief). Also location for Reedy Creek Emergency Services Communication Center (9-1-1). Station 3 opened in January 2008.
One of the 'Disney Fire Stations', Station 3 is part of the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The Walt Disney World Resort property is protected by a full time paid fire department, and emergency medical service. They provide fire protection and emergency medical services to the parks, resorts, and they also respond as mutual aid to the surrounding counties. The Department is currently staffed with one Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, five Assistant Chiefs, (one Admin/Communications, one EMS, three assigned Shift Commanders), eight Battalion Chiefs, (six assigned to shift, one Training, one EMS/Q.A.), three Supervisors, (one Communications, two Fire Prevention), and two Assistant Supervisors (both in Communications), 12 Lieutenants, 15 Driver/Operators, 45 Paramedic/Firefighters, 52 firefighters, 24 MARC, 13 Inspectors, 10 Communicators and two clerical personnel for a total of 194 personnel with a 197 authorized.
(Rumor) One of the daily duties of the firefighters is to inspect each kitchen to insure that it is clean and free of defects that could cause a fire, a kitchen that is found to have a fire hazard is not allowed to open until the hazard is removed. In the first 25 years Walt Disney World has not had a major building fire loss on the property, most of the fire losses come from automobile fires in parking lots. (Fact) There was once a fire on a monorail that was caused by one of it's tires, but no structures were in danger of fire. The Walt Disney World Resort property has one of the most stringent fire codes in America, most of the country now follows their lead in fire code policies and laws.
