  • I have always seen this as singular - Boon Island. It is home to the famous Boon Island Light, lots of large rocks, and some wildlife. Many years ago, a shipwrecked crew was stranded here, some 5 miles off York Beach, and allegedly resorted to cannibalism. Another story is that the sailors built a signal fire, using wood from their ship, and the fire was seen by local Indians, who paddled out and rescued the sailors.
