"De Waag"(building) and "Het Waagplein"(square) are the most important touristic attractions in Alkmaar. In the past it was a place where witches were weigthed and convicted for their "crime", now its well-known for the "Kaasmarkt", or "Cheesemarket", a traditional show given every friday.
