A Dokhma (also known as "The Tower Of Silence") This is the place where the dead are disposed (Dokhme-Nashini)The dead-body is laid to rest on a raised platform where it will be devavoured almost instantly by the Vultures.(Why Vultures only?-Because Vultures are the only scavangers which will never attack any thing that has the slightest trace of life.) This is a Time Tested & an Age Old practice stiictly followed by the Parsi Zoroastrians by which the enviorenment is not atall polluted or harmed in any way. According to the Zoarastrian religion purity is the essence of life hence (1)Cremation results into air pollution and using up of vital resources of the ever depleting forest reserves (2) Sea/Land-Burial causes land pollution, water-pollution and contamination of marine life/water table...So as to avoid any kind of pollution and to protect the envioronment this procedure is still considered the best option for disposing the dead
