The Muslim Community Center (MCC) in Silver Spring Maryland serves thousands of families in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. area. The idea of the community center was first conceived in September 1976. The Muslim Community Center was dedicated and occupied for use in May 1981 and has since grown to become a nationally recognized Islamic center.
The MCC has become prominent by offering services and programs for the benefit of our community at large. The Center is a volunteer-managed, non-profit, church-exempt organization established under the laws of the State of Maryland. While the area Muslim population utilizes most of its services, the MCC organization is dedicated to serving all human beings, regardless of faith, color, origin, and creed of the service seeker.
The MCC organization is community-supported and does not accept string-attached funding from special interest groups, foreign governments, or political parties. The member-approved bylaws and Articles of Incorporation govern its affairs. Its management includes a nine member Board of Directors and a five member Board of Trustees. The MCC members annually elect three directors for a three-year term each and one trustee for a five-year term on rotation basis. A general body meeting is held yearly in which every member in good standing has the right to vote on MCC affairs. Additional town hall and/or interim general body meetings may be called prior to annual meeting.
The MCC mission clearly describes its organizational duties to “…promote friendly relations and understanding between the Muslim community and the general public, and to disseminate information on Islamic principles…”. We pray to Almighty that He provides us the resources and strength to fulfill our mission of bringing peace to this planet by serving all human beings irrespective of their choice of faith (Amen).
Please note that because of the Church-Exempt and not-for-profit status, all donations to MCC are tax exempt. We are also a part of Combined Federal Campaign with an assigned CFC number 7556.
Thank you. May Allah bless you.
