The municipality of Tabontabon is located in the province of Leyte, Philippines. It is part of the 2nd district of Leyte, and is sorrounded by six other municipalities, namely, Dagami, Dulag, Tanauan, Tolosa, Julita, and Burauen. It has a total land area of 25.0 square kilometers

POPULATION:
According to the 2000 census on population, it has a population of 8,372 people in 1,692 households. As of August 1, 2007, there are 9,518 persons in the municipality as revealed by the National Statistics Office (NSO). The population increased by 12% in seven years.

BARANGAYS:
Tabontabon is politically subdivided into 16 barangays - four barangays that composed the town proper and 12 other sorrounding barangays. The 12 sorrounding barangays are Amandangay, Aslum, Balingasag, Belisong, Cambucao, Capahu-an, Guingauan, Jabong, Mercaduhay, Mering, Mohon, and San Pablo (Mooc), while the four barangays within the poblacion area are District I (Quezon), District II (Rizal), District III (Bonifacio), and District IV (Macarthur).

ECONOMY:
About 99% of the people are farmers, so basically farming is the primary source of income. Other people have businesses though such as sari-sari stores.
