Kromołów is the oldest district of Zawiercie City. In the 12th Century Kromołów was a village, which then became a district of Zawiercie in 1975. Kromołów is situated in the Cracow-Częstochowa highland, where spring of the Warta is. A little spring is located in the basement of a stone wayside shrine of Saint John Nepomucen. The shrine is situated on the crossroads leading to Kielce, Częstochowa and Siewierz. With a length of approximately 808 kilometers it is the country's third longest river. It is connected to the Vistula by the river Note and the Bydgoszcz Canal. There are a lot of monuments in Kromołów. There is a church in Kromołów which is about 800 years old. Church dedicated to St Nicholas mentioned in 1221 with Neo-Renaissance high altar and baroque stony baptismal font. Before the church was built it used to be a wooden church in this place. There is also Palace in Kromołów which was built near the springs of Warta River. It's called 'Pałacyk nad Wartą'. It was built in 17th century. 'Palace at Warta river' in Kromołów is cultural institution. There is also Jewish cemetery in Kromołów, created in the first half of the 18th century, the oldest preserved tombstone coming from 1730. It has got many tombstones with relief plays from the 18th and 9th century. You can also find very old buildings in Kromołów, like from the end of 19 century or shrines also from 19 century and the other historic cemeteries. Kromołów is very pretty, small and old district and it's really worth of visiting.
