Next door to the famous Goldwyn Pictures/United Artists/Pickford-Fairbanks lot, this small studio was originally built for King Vidor as his "Vidor Village" in (roughly) 1920. Vidor used the earnings from one of his first films to buy "a full city block.". He sold it to Sol Lesser in 1923.

One of its best know incarnations was as Grand National Films (1936-1939). Wanting to be a major player, they made films with James Cagney and Boris Karloff.

Was also the home of Educational Pictures (1924-1938) whose biggest stars were Buster Keaton and Shirley Temple, Harry Langdon, and Bing Crosby.

Then Producer's Releasing Corp*. 1943-1947 (PRC*- which was merged into Eagle Lion on Aug. 8, 1947, under Brian Foy 1943-1947), , American National Studios (ca 1950-ca 1957), and ZIV (television production 1948-1960).

Was demolished by 1964 and replaced by a strip mall. Today it is West Hollywood's premier luxury apartments.

*Note PRC was previously located at 1440 N. Gower in a building that eventually was merged into Columbia Studios.
