  • Ruddington Hall was built in 1860 as a country retreat for a wealthy industrialist and banker from Bolton. In 1880 the hall was purchased by a successful American merchant, who lived there until his death in 1905. The Hall was purchased in 1907 by a Major John Ashworth, renowned as one of the finest riflemen in the country. In 1931 Ruddington Hall was purchased by Dorothea Kate Forman-Hardy, a member of Nottingham's well known newspaper and printing dynasty. In September 1940, she offered the hall to the Red Cross for use as a wartime convalescent hospital. The Hall continued in this role until 1980, when it was bought by a private company to use as it's headquarters. In 1992, it was acquired by Midland Software which, as MidlandHR, has now grown into one of the UK's leading specialist HR software and services suppliers.
  • I din't know about Ruddington Hall, and I spent half my childhood in West Bridgford! Is the Hall open for visitors (presumably by appointment)?
