Built in 1961, Midland Avenue Collegiate Institute (formerly Midland Avenue Secondary School) had so many tremendous features that makes it a special school with wide corridors, circular cafeteria, two-floor library, 900-seat auditorium, and more throughout its 37-year-operation,. To this day (even after the closure), Midland remains Scarborough's centerpiece educational institution for generations to come and discover.

The building is now home of three TDSB programs: Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies (adult learning centre that was called Tabor Park Vocational School), South East Year Round Alternative Centre (at risk year round alternative school), and Caring and Safe Schools Area C (suspension/explosion alternative program). It is also rented out to NYAD and Olympian Swimming
