It is a small village just in the outskirts of Almaty. In 2002 there was a Scientific Research Institute for Animal Husbandry in the village, with a big kettle-breeding farm, office building and laboratories. The Institute was closed and transferreed to an other place - leaving a lot of agrarian people (rural economists, research workers and farm workers) without work.
