  N'Tireft fishing village. Site of clash between Sahrawi and Moroccan settler fishermen in July 2008. Sahrawis claimed it was a planned attack by settlers with links to the Moroccan security forces. The government claimed it was a dispute between rival groups of octopus fishhermen. The fish hall built by the Moroccans was burned, as were several cars and shops. The point (Punta Elbow) was visited in 2009 by surfers whose trip was reported on Surfline.com. The military tried to bar them from the surf, but they were allowed a few hours in the water after presenting a bogus document (and a bribe?).
