    Salmanabad is a small village situated in Altit valley. It is situated in central Hunza.It is about at height of 1500 m from sea level. The population of this small village is about 500.The literacy rate of that region is high. The people are quite sincere and full of Hospitality. Before it was known as "GHAMASHAR". The word Ghamasar is combination of two words.Ghamas a brushaski word means wealthy People and “har” means channel for water. It is saying that the ancestors or early dwellers are very wealthy and rich. So the region was named as Ghamasar. They use to earn their live hood by selling products and taking back the products equivalent to those sold products. The returning product includes wheat, flour, barley, and other daily need commodities. The main source is the wood. They used to travel to meadows for a week and more to snatch down the woods. It is famous in the region for its productions especially Potatoes and dry Appricot. the production also includes peaches, almonds, peaches apples and grapes. The dwellers income depends upon such productions. Different NGO's provides the necessary seeding and purchase those products from them and give money in return. Its importance is due to annexed meadows. The meadows are called”Baldiat Meadows” the words Baldiat relates to "Baldi" which means the specially designed shelter for summers. Visitors from every corner used to visit the meadows. The weather is quite different from others regions in Hunza.Being at height the climate is usually cold in winter. The cold winds starts blowing from September and till up to end of February. The summers are moderate so the whole season brings joy within the people. Regards Noor haikle
