Mabel Normand Studio

1215 Bates (aka 4319 Effie), the triangular shaped building was built in 1916 as the personal studio of silent movie comedienne Mable Normand. It was built by Mack Sennett, the "King of Comedy" as a gift for his star and lover, Mable Normand.

Owned by cowboy star William S. Hart 1919-1923.

Currently called Mack Sennett Stage, photographic studios. This current tenant takes it's name from legendary producer/director Mack Sennett, Miss Normand's mentor, benefactor, and boss, who was responsible for her fame.

If you follow Effie Street southeast, you will come to Mack Sennet's original studio, on Glendale Blvd., the site of Sennett's and Miss Normand's biggest successes.
