The site was originally a slaughter house. The site was made up of 5 blocks of distinctive red-brick buildings. It is the only remaining cattle depot in Hong Kong built before World War I, and it is now listed by the Antiquities and Monuments Office as a Grade III historical site; discussions of lifting it to become a Grade II site are ongoing. It is now an artist community centre. Various tenant groups use this place to exhibit their art work, to host drama, run seminar or workshops.
