Drexel University Dormitory, called Van R. for short. 11 stories tall containing 3, 4, and 6 person suites. Approximately 700 square feet of living space per suite.

HISTORY

Completed in 1931, Van Rensselaer Hall was constructed as a women’s dormitory.
Through a helpful donation by Sarah Drexel Van Rensselaer and Ms. Randell, two lifelong friends and Drexel supporters, Van Rensselaer was constructed. There was talk to bring down the facility from 1991-1997 after a fire gutted the whole 10th floor, but fortunately it was renovated and reopened in 1997. Bower Lewis Thrower was the architectural firm for the renovation. Currently this building houses 300 people in 4-6 person suites.
