Kirby Hall is an Elizabethan country house dating back to 1570. Its construction was based on the designs in French architectural pattern books and expanded in the classical style over the course of the decades. The house is now in a semi-ruined state with many parts roofless. The building and gardens are owned by The Earl of Winchilsea, and managed by English Heritage.
Kirby Hall has been used as a filming location for Jane Austen's Mansfield Park in 1999, and Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story in 2005.
