Water project of the cascade had devastating effects on the environment. The plans for extensive irrigation canals were abandoned after 1989 and reservoirs cascade main purpose was lost. The disappearance of dozens of hectares of the original floodplain forests been the cause of disability of the debouchment of flood water in the landscape. The water level had been lowered.
