Tailings and remains of the Chollar, Norcross, Savage Shaft, commonly known as the Combination Shaft. This mine was started in 1875 and reached a depth of 3,250 feet. The shaft was shut down in 1886, but remained open for ventilation and repairs of the famous Sutro Tunnel.
