Perm-36, the only intact gulag camp surviving in Russia, operated from 1946 until 1987, during which time it housed “enemies of the state,” as well as common criminals. All of the camp’s timber buildings were built by the prisoners themselves.

  • According to The Moscow Times, the museum will close in 2015 due to pressure from Govt. Stalin repressive policy is a black mark on Russian history and current Government seems to erase this period from Russian mind.
