Almaden Plaza was originally built on 31 Acres of land by Emporium in 1967 (the building at the top, nearest the 85 off ramp). The building now houses buybuy BABY, In Spa, First Horizon Home Loans and in part of the former Emporium and the former Sizzler is Barnes and Noble. On the second floor is Bed, Bath & Beyond. The third floor, which was offices and the employee break room for Emporium is now used as storage by Almaden Plaza's owners, likely where they keep the Christmas decor on top of the old Emporium Building when it is not in use. The exterior still is basically the same from Emporium, (except for the buybuy BABY and Bed, Bath & Beyond Facades) even in the part where it is white, above the old entry doors to Emporium, one can see the giant 'E' labelscar, as the building was never painted after the 'E' was removed. Almaden Plaza grew to 40.5 Acres when Costco came in 1996 (a time when this center was practically vacant with Emporium going bankrupt, Lucky's leaving and eventually the smaller shops leaving), was built on land not used for Highway 85.
Contains a Costco (large building to the top left), Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Men's Wearhouse, Trader Joe's, and of course, a Starbucks.
