"After 14 months of construction, the Ethanol Plant on Bates Road will begin production for the first time today. It is the only facility of its kind in the Northeast."
"Locally, the $90 million plant will purchase up to 40 percent of its corn from area farmers and contribute $1 million in annual property taxes, said Western New York Energy Executive Vice President Michael Sawyer."
"The plant will process 20 million bushels of corn a year — nearly one third of the state’s total crop — to produce 50 million gallons of pure ethanol for use in gasoline. It will run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year."
