UST Botanical Garden

On the same street, just a stone's throw away, a few feet from the Main Building is the UST Botanical Garden. Its collection of herbal plants is perhaps the largest in the city. Here one finds almost all kinds of Philippine flora. There are towering trees, the lowly grass, creeping vines and clustering shrubs in monochromatic tones of green. The red orange, yellow, lavander and other colors of nature's palette are ablaze in the banana, the bandera española, the bird of paradise, variations of the fire tree, the zinnia and others. One can also find the lowly kamantigue as well as the fragrant sampaguita and the orchid, exotic and rare. A virtual haven, this mini arboretum has its chirping crickets and chattering birds. The garden is the site of the on-the-spot lessons and research validating classroom instructions. Upon reaching the street in front of the Main Building, one has come full circle. Walking further to your right, is the Ceferino Gonzalez Drive that leads to the Santisimo Rosario Church. The edifice also houses the Central Seminary.

  • This has so much potential for improvements. Saying that though, I find that as it is, it's a good place to relax too, especially the swing (when, by some miracle, no one is using/sitting)...I remember my rushed yet colorful sketches of the plants here for Botany... There's also the doves or "white pigeons"...aka "Asthma" to one of my batchmates ^^' And there are the butterflies present in one of the enclosures. There are turtles too in the pond, and of course the monkeys >.>' (they get a little rowdy at times) I like the enclosure with the ferns myself though. I dunno why, but I just do
  • parang gubat itong botanical forest na ito. :))
