PSE&G Bridgeport Harbor Generating Station (Bridgeport, Connecticut)

USA / Connecticut / Bridgeport / Bridgeport, Connecticut
 thermal power station, coal-fired

The Bridgeport Harbor Generating Station is a three unit power plant with a net capacity of 584 MW located on Long Island Sound on the west shore of Bridgeport Harbor, CT. A fourth unit at the site is in deactivated reserve.

The four tanks on the south end of the station mark the location of the former Locomobile Company of America plant. Founded in 1899 in Watertown, MA, LCA transferred operations here in 1900. In 1922, LCA was taken over by Durant Motors and went out of business in 1929. This is also site of construction of Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion automobile. The plant was razed in the 1960s. The above aerial photo shows how the former LCA plant looked in 1949.
