Originally known as Towne and Country Mall, it began with the construction in 1962 of a two level Sayvette City, a discount store later operated by Loblaws. Shortly thereafter the Sayvette was followed by a Loblaws grocery store. In 1966, a single level enclosed T mall was built to link the two stores. A Canadian Tire store and The Bay were added in 1975 following the closing of Sayvette in the same year. The name of the mall was changed to Centerpoint Mall in 1991.
