The name "Animal Flower Cave" comes from the sea anemones found in the pools of the cave. Some of these pools are deep enough for you to swim in. There are also several openings looking out to sea, offering some spectacular views to the crushing waves. The cave was discovered in 1780. The coral floor is estimated to be 400,000 to 500,000 years old and the younger coral section above the floor is about 126,000 years old. The cave now stands some six feet above the high tide mark. It is open to the public daily from 9am to 5pm, phone 439-8797. There is also a restaurant and bar on site.
