Village in Kaliningrad Oblast', Bagrationovsk district, Nivenskoye rural commune.
The village is known by Anna Neander (1615-1689), of whom is being sung a very famous German folk song "Ännchen von Tharau". Anna was the daughter of the local priest and married in 1637 the priest Johannes Portatius. According to the legend, during this marriage poet Simon Dach fell in love of her and wrote a poem for her, which was later used by Johann Gottfried Herder into a musical composition.
