Bacolod Adventist Medical Center (formerly Bacolod Sanitarium & Hospital) was founded by members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the region including church members as well as friends of the Adventists through out Visayas and Mindanao. By 1962 construction was started by Engr. Tony Habaradas. Dr. Willis Dick, the missionary surgeon tasked to make the hospital operational made the rounds of Los Angeles, USA second hand shops, crawled over musty basements and dusty attics to find things for Bacolod. But for the operating room, a new surgical table and light was bought with the insurance paid for the accidental death of the Dicks' daughter Lora. On December 8, 1966, Bacolod Sanitarium and Hospital, a 50-bed general hospital was inaugurated.

Over the years - leadership changed hands from American missionaries to Filipino nationals, physical structure expanded a number of times, and services multiplied. Funds, equipment, and expertise were made available through generous donors making Bacolod Sanitarium and Hospital, the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center of today. As a center for training, numerous men and women have gone from its doors to serve in the global community.
