Andrew Melville Hall, University of St Andrews (St Andrews)

AMH is a fantastic, social, vibrant and successful hall situated on the western fringes of St Andrews. It is a ten minute walk from the town centre, a five minute walk from the glorious west sands beach and the many golf courses, two minutes from the University Sports Centre and is located on the North Haugh Campus.

AMH prides itself on relations between an excellent Hall Committee, Residential Management team and Wardennial team. We are an inclusive Hall where the student has a voice and, whilst perhaps not the most attractive or historic of our Halls of Residence, it is the only one that is a Grade A listed building!

AMH is semi-rural in situation, has a tremendous Hall Spirit and is successful in sport, social as well as charitable activity. The Hall is increasingly popular with those students seeking to return to Hall for 2nd, 3rd or final year and it is a Hall that has helped create many lifelong friendships and bonds! AMH has also featured in the recent Keira Knightley film ‘Never let me go’.

  • I never got much further than being a fresher at St Andrews. I was really depressed at Andrew Melville Hall. That syndrome that people in tower blocks have? i felt that and played catch up or tried to for another year after that.. Would happily push the plunger to demolish it... Not blaming my lack of degree on AMH, it was just a sad experience to come home to, which didn't help! However, been there, tried it and no hard feelings half a lifetime on!
