The Vineyard came into being by the van Romodt´s family. Diederik Joahannes van Romondt, born on Februar 16th, 1781 in Amsterdam, came to Philipsburg in 1801, he dies there on April 19th, 1849. Joahannes van Romondt was the island Gouverneur from 1820 to 1840. The Vineyard house was built in 1872.
