York Technical College was established as the York County Technical Education Center in 1964. A decade down the line, the institute was christened York Technical College. York Technical College-Rock Hill, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, offers associate’s degrees, diplomas, and certificates, as well as continuing education and distance learning programs. Students can choose from a wide range of subjects in areas of vocational, technical and occupational education. York Technical College-Rock Hill has seven off-campus sites that provide opportunities for education. Chester Center and Kershaw-Heath Springs are among the off-campus centers of the college.

There are three major academic divisions in York Technical College-Rock Hill:
* Business, Computer, Arts and Sciences Division
* Health and Human Services Division
* Industrial and Engineering Technologies Division
