The AN/FSC-79 is a SHF communications terminal used to transmit the Navy’s Fleet Satellite Broadcast. It uses Spread Spectrum Multiple Access (SSMA), which enables afloat operating units the ability to receive General Service (GENSER) and Intelligence message traffic even in hostile environments. The terminal consists of a 60-foot parabolic antenna and uses equipment identical in the AN/FSC-78. However, the AN/FSC-79 is an uplink only terminal.
