There's no official designation for this intersection, but it allows traffic on US 441 (Florida State Road 7) to sail over Sample Road (SR 834) without stopping at a stoplight. It was completed in November 1993, after one year of construction.
This intersection would become heavily congested before this SPUI was completed, as US 441 was a two-lane road before the intersection was completed. The Rangeline Canal along SR 7 was also re-routed, which added to the complexity of this project. Since the overpass has opened to traffic, this intersection is far less congested, even considering the population and and subsequent traffic increase.
