Ludlow, California. There's a great article in the February 1974 issue of Desert Magazine about Ludlow, "The Town Too Dry To Die!" by Mary Francis Strong, God Bless her. It covers the town's history extensively, and talks about, in 1974, the 'rebirth' of Ludlow. Five pictures by Jerry Strong. Starts on page 8.

  • I stopped there on the way to LA in 2001. Pulled out of Needles at 5:30 AM and then looked at the gas gauge--1/8 tank. Made it to Ludlow on the fumes and was never so glad to see a gas station. Great scenery.
