SS Norway (Formerly SS France) (Bremerhaven)

Germany / Bremen / Bremerhaven
 ship, historical layer / disappeared object

Outdated photo. The Norway was cut up for scrap in Alang, India in 2008.

This website (www.maritimematters.com/norway.html ) has a timeline of the Norway's difficulties since the boiler explosion that occurred while tied up in the Port of Miami on May 25th, 2003. Based on this timeline, the Satellite photo showing her tied up here in Bremerhaven must have been taken between July of 2003 and June of 2005. During that time, she was used for housing and training for current workers and future crew of the NCL Pride of America (alongside the pier to the left of the SS Norway) while she was being built.

A few shots of her aground at Alang, India;

Comments

  • Nothing remains of her.
  • Actually, the "nose" of her bow, the first thing cut at the beginning of the ship breaking process in Alang, India was purchased at auction and is now on display in Paris.
