This is the headquarters of Al-Bukhary Foundation (also known as Yayasan Al-Bukhary in Malay). It is a philanthropic organization founded by Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syed_Mokhtar_Al-Bukhary), one of Malaysia's wealthiest industrialists. With involvement in diversified business areas which include transportation and logistics, military defense and armory, biotechnology, as well as engineering and power generation, Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary has a net worth estimated to be US$2.5 billion.

From 1996 to 2010, Al-Bukhary Foundation has contributed almost $1 billion to charity. The Foundation has humanitarian projects in Asia and Africa, including rebuilding the lives of Afghan refugees, Pakistan's ear's tsunami victims, and operating an AIDS hospital in Uganda. Among the Foundation's initiatives are the Al-Bukhary Tuition Programme for poor underachievers and the Al-Bukhary Scholarship Programme for poor high achievers.
