Delphi is one of the world`s largest automotive parts manufacturers with 146,000 employees (18,900 in the U.S.) and 150 manufacturing sites and 44 joint ventures. It was founded in 1994 when General Motors established a separate corporation composed of its Saginaw Steering, Harrison Thermal, Packard Electric, AC Delco and other parts divisions. In 1999 it became an independent publicly held company. By 2005 the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and instituted a series of downsizing measures.
The 264,000 sq. ft. headquarters complex built in 1995 was designed by Kessler Associates and features an aluminum clad, six story office building , a single story 17,000 sq. ft. Customer Center and a high tech building.
